Derwin Roland, a USPTA Certified Professional and a Professional Tennis Registry Certified Professional, founded Monster Tennis, Inc.  His passion for the game and his desire for excellence has made the company a growing success. Derwin has been playing tennis, including participating in amateur tournaments, for 30 years.  Derwin began playing tennis at age 13 and has never stopped. Over the years, Derwin has competed in many USTA tournaments playing both singles and doubles.

He believes tennis is a great sport for anyone, young or old.  It is one of the few sports that can be played until a very advanced age in life.  Tennis is intriguing because it can be played on different surfaces, offers singles and doubles, and in many places, can be played year round.

Derwin has excelled while leading Monster Tennis.  He was voted Georgia Independent Coach of the Year in 2003 by his peers who are the elite tennis professionals in the metro-Atlanta area.   Derwin uses a unique combination of high energy and positive motivation on the tennis court.   You will never see any of Derwin’s students doing push-ups or jumping jacks for not making a certain shot.  He believes that a student with a vision and passion can be encouraged by his or her coach to perform at their top level and go after their dreams. Derwin coaches and trains beginners to highly competitive junior and adult players.  He loves to see new people start to play tennis and also enjoys the thrill of intense competition.

Derwin loves his family and enjoys spending time with them.  He has been married to his wife, Teresa, for 25 years and has two children.  Philip is 21 and is a musician.  Carmen, 16, is home schooled and has helped Derwin coach for the past few years.

Derwin is a huge Falcons, Hawks, and Dogs fan.  He enjoys playing tennis, working out, cycling, and hiking.  He and his family attend The C3 Church in Lawrenceville.
